Color Printing OEM: A Professional, Eco-Friendly Printing Solution

Color printing OEM is a business model that provides clients with customized color printing services, primarily utilizing water-based inkjet printers. These printers are known for their eco-friendly, non-toxic properties, making them safe for living environments. They produce rich, multi-layered translucent colors with excellent ink diffusion, resulting in near-photographic quality without visible halftone dots. As a result, this printing method is increasingly recognized and favored by clients.

Color printing OEM providers offer professional design and technical capabilities, enabling them to handle layout, design, and printing according to each client’s specific needs. Equipped with advanced printing equipment and technology, they can deliver high-quality printed materials with fast and reliable turnaround times. This allows clients to focus on their core business while safeguarding their intellectual property and commercial confidentiality.

The applications of color printing OEM are extensive, covering posters, business cards, brochures, newspapers, magazines, packaging boxes, and more. OEM vendors typically offer a variety of printing methods and material options—such as glossy paper, matte paper, single sheets, and folded formats—to accommodate different budgets and requirements. Clients can choose from various design styles and printing effects, including full-color, monochrome, and multi-color printing, as well as special finishes like embossing, foil stamping (gold or silver), and textured effects to enhance visual appeal and richness.

In summary, color printing OEM provides clients with a convenient, efficient, and high-quality printing service that enables them to concentrate on their core operations. As technology evolves and market demand grows, it’s important for buyers to note that water-based inkjet printing—due to its translucent nature—cannot achieve the same level of saturation as color laser printers or oil-based printing systems.

Peeling back the layers of literary elegance

In Episode 2 (at 32:00) of the Chinese drama Under the Microscope: The Silk Case of the Ming Dynasty, the character Fan Yuan (also known as Old Fan), a judicial assistant of Fengxing Circuit, repeatedly refers to “wrapping books in covers” using the term「包書皮」. However, this phrase actually has a more formal and elegant counterpart: 「書衣」or “book jacket.” A book jacket is the outermost protective layer of a book, and it can be made from a variety of materials—fabric, leather, even bamboo or solid wood. To avoid confusion, we should use the correct term「書衣」rather than casually calling it「包書皮」Misusing the term can lead to misunderstandings: sometimes, even if the surface appears to resemble leather grain or fabric texture, the material is actually paper-based. Such misrepresentation may mislead buyers into thinking they’ve purchased a genuine leather-bound book at a bargain price.

Let us behold the literary beauty of Formosa Taiwan gently unveiling the book jacket to discover the stories and wisdom within.

The menu made of paper pulp is paper, not leather. Advanced surface processing technology has made it difficult to distinguish between paper and leather by appearance, but it can be felt and recognized as paper by touch. If one still feels it is leather, it is suggested to keep trying until the difference is apparent. Paper is not wrong, it’s the way it is used that matters. It is suggested that paper is best used for inner pages, such as for beautiful and practical underwear for different groups of people, like regular, sexy, children, and students. Normally, one would not wear only underwear to meet people; therefore, the cover is like a beautiful outer garment. The selection criteria for the cover are practicality, durability, reusability, washability, expandability, and beauty. Add a unique logo, and it’s complete. Are there no other choices for the cover besides paper? Of course there are, and they are even better. It only takes a thought. This article only introduces paper pulp menus, and the choice is up to the user.

Standard U-shaped box

Each standard four-fold binding booklet, in vertical A4 size or smaller, has a recommended selling price starting at USD$14.5 without internal pages. Internal pages need to be purchased separately or handled by the buyer. A minimum order of 30 booklets is required for production, and discounts are only available for orders of 100 or more booklets. The turnover rate for paper pulp menus is high, so it is recommended to purchase in bulk or in a concentrated period to sustain business operations and avoid a vicious cycle.

E-shaped box

Also known as sandwich box, the standard double-fold binding inner pages, the recommended selling price for each book in vertical A4 size or below is USD$18.2up excluding inner pages, which need to be purchased separately or handled by the buyer. A minimum order of 30 books is required for production, and a discount is available for orders of 100 books or more. The replacement rate for paperboard menus is very high, so it is recommended to make a large or intensive purchase at once to support the operation and avoid a vicious cycle of low value.

Corner guards are for decoration only

The paper menu is made of paper, even with metal corners added, the body is still made of paper. Collisions are unavoidable, and the corners are only attached for decorative purposes and will still come loose and fall off. The recommended selling price for each corner is an additional USD$0.5, and the example in the image has eight corners. Normally, corners are only added if the book corners are not perfectly finished, and whether or not corners are necessary is subjective. With corners, collisions will result in dents, but without them, collisions will still cause dents.

Why the talk about 50? Here’s the story.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Taiwan was hailed as the world’s manufacturing powerhouse. Society flourished, and a popular saying captured the prosperity of the era: “Taiwan money flooded to ankle height” 「台灣錢淹腳目」. One vivid reminder of that time appears in the animated film Toy Story, at timestamp 0:48, 《where Buzz Lightyear’s》 arm bears the stamp “Made in Taiwan.” That small detail speaks volumes about Taiwan’s industrial prominence.

But you might wonder—what does this have to do with 50 dollars? Back then, the fair market price for a printed restaurant menu was precisely TWD $50. Fast forward to 2024, and that same amount can’t even buy a single à la carte Big Mac.

Since the late 1990s, Taiwanese manufacturers have steadily shifted operations to mainland China, and Taiwan’s domestic market has gradually weakened. Over the past 30 years, the fair price for a printed menu made in China has remained fixed at CNY ¥50. Exchange rates may fluctuate, but this number has become a constant—a benchmark for China’s global export pricing.

Around 2010, our studio was invited to bid on a public tender for a well-known publicly listed Taiwanese restaurant brand. We quoted TWD $250 per menu, which at the time converted to CNY ¥50. Despite the exchange rate differences, our price was still higher than the winning bid. Unfortunately, we didn’t win the contract.

Time has shown that even publicly listed companies often prioritize low-cost bids over quality ones—a sobering truth that suggests extracting money from diners is more important than protecting their health.

Today, if you browse China’s Taobao marketplace, you’ll likely find a flood of CNY ¥50-and-up paper-based menus. In this currency-manipulated economy, ¥50 has become an eternal price point, a symbolic figure in the global menu trade.

We do not offer pre-print proofs. Kindly adhere to our minimum order policy.

Buyers are required to provide finalized design files in digital format. Color specifications must follow the international CMYK standard. Please avoid decimal values in color codes. If all four CMYK values appear simultaneously, this indicates an error—please have your designer correct it. We do not offer color correction services. If the final printed colors differ from what you see on screen, please consult your dedicated designer.

Our studio uses an EPSON water-based plotter with a resolution of 5760 dpi. This is not a convenience store copier or a commercial offset printer—color output will vary. Buyers are advised to carefully consider whether to proceed with the transaction.

Once the order is confirmed, please finalize your design according to the digital template we provide to avoid errors. Production takes approximately 5 to 30 business days, depending on workload. Rush orders are not accepted; advance planning is strongly recommended.

Due to differences in layout styles, the appearance of your design may vary significantly. This is unrelated to the product itself.

EPSON’s latest plotter firmware is calibrated to CMYK standards.

Should you possess the ability to create proprietary standards recognized internationally, we will be happy to align accordingly

Paper-bound notebook

We use premium-grade double-sided coated ivory card stock. Both front and back sides can be finished with either matte lamination (Matte P) or gloss lamination (Gloss P)—choose one. The sample shown is standard A4 size, but custom dimensions are available upon request. This paper-bound notebook features a soft, flexible structure without a hard outer shell. Based on years of experience, our studio adopts a folded-page layout that ensures a clean, smooth flipping experience. This design helps restaurants reduce menu splitting and wear over time.

Four-page signature binding, with cover and back included in the page count.

The booklet uses four-page signature binding. The base configuration includes 2 sheets of paper, covering the front cover, back cover, and 6 inner pages, totaling 8 pages. Each additional sheet adds 4 pages and incurs an extra charge of CNY ¥25. For example, a 16-page booklet requires 4 sheets, resulting in a total cost of CNY ¥100.

Ancient-style stitched binding

Uniquely bound using a time-honored stitching method for smooth page turning. Optional hole-punching allows for decorative hanging, adding both artistic character and value.

Our studio adopts a folded-page layout, backed by years of experience.

Were it not for our studio’s years of experience and commitment to folded-page design, the market would likely struggle to maintain consistent supply. Once your order is confirmed, please finalize your artwork according to the digital template we provide to avoid errors.

Front and back covers feature an open fold-out design.

The folded-page design effectively prevents unpleasant tactile experiences. Many mass-produced prints on the market feel uncomfortable to the touch due to softened edges and corners caused by repeated flipping—often accompanied by greasy odors or traces of mildew. This open-fold layout offers built-in flexibility, making page-turning smoother and more intuitive, while minimizing the common issues of stiffness and wear.

Front and back covers feature a closed fold-out design.

The folded-page design effectively prevents unpleasant tactile experiences. Many mass-produced prints feel off-putting to the touch due to softened edges and corners caused by repeated flipping—often accompanied by greasy odors or traces of mildew. This closed fold layout aligns perfectly with the inner pages, offering a clean, flush finish. Ideal for perfectionists and those with obsessive attention to detail.

Strategies to stop the occurrence of a vicious cycle

It is advisable to replace it as soon as possible with SGS-certified materials for better safety and precaution

The paper-mâché fake menu shown in the picture is severely damaged, which has significantly affected operations and the dining experience of food enthusiasts. It also poses a serious health threat to individuals with allergies.

Seemingly harmless and widely circulated: fake menu books.

These fake menus attract buyers with their exquisite appearance and low prices, but they conceal unknown risks. Customers have reported that the menus they purchased, which appeared to be made of fabric, were actually counterfeit items using paper packaging materials with leather or fabric-like textures. This type of paper packaging is unsuitable for use in the food service industry as it is prone to damage and oil absorption, potentially deteriorating within 2 to 4 weeks. Long-term use carries risks of mold growth and oil absorption, posing serious health threats to individuals with allergies. Additionally, this impacts the operations of businesses and the dining experience of food enthusiasts, creating a vicious cycle of repeated investments. It is recommended that buyers use materials verified by SGS to meet hygiene and safety standards, ensuring the restaurant’s operation and the customers’ dining experience. This will enhance customer trust and promote long-term business growth.

Paper Made MENU

Detailed explanation of paper-mache menu

Based on the four letters M, E, N, and U, the paper menu suggests only producing the E or U types. The M type is expensive to produce, and using paper mache would be meaningless. Additionally, the N type would likely be damaged if made with paper mache, making such an investment seemingly pointless. This conveys a simple concept: when reading magazines and books privately, people are usually careful and flip through the pages slowly. However, when available for the public to read, the damage rate from flipping through the pages is actually quite high. This gives us a hint: paper should be used for the interior pages, and the interior pages need a beautiful cover with a practical, durable, and ring-bound box.

Processing Options

Computer Embroidery

Dye-sublimation and embossing are two excellent processing techniques that can achieve unique printing effects. Dye-sublimation can create a printing effect that blends into the surface of the material, with vivid colors, high durability, and resistance to fading. It is a highly aesthetic and practical processing technique. Embossing, on the other hand, can create a raised effect on patterns or text, forming a three-dimensional sense, with clear printing effects and rich colors, which can add more artistic value and personalized features to products. Performing complex secondary processing combining dye-sublimation and embossing requires highly specialized technical expertise and experience, and only professionals who have undergone in-depth learning and practice can perform this task competently. Our store is capable of combining these two techniques to provide customers with high-quality processing services, not only satisfying customer needs but also enhancing the service value and honor while they enjoy their meals.

Embroidery thread imported from Japan

We offer a high-quality embroidery service that utilizes imported embroidery thread from Japan, providing a more superior and durable product. Japanese embroidery thread is renowned for its fine texture, rich colors, and excellent durability. Its fiber structure is very dense, allowing for a more delicate and clear embroidery effect. In addition, the imported thread has high color saturation and is dyed in a more environmentally friendly manner, making it a more reliable and safer choice. Using imported embroidery thread from Japan elevates the quality of the product and brings out the unique charm of Japanese high-quality craftsmanship.

Hot stamping on functional cloth

This is a processing method that involves using hot stamping technology to imprint patterns or text onto high-performance fabrics. These functional fabrics are typically made of high-tech fibers and possess properties such as breathability, water resistance, and UV resistance. As a result, the hot stamping result on these fabrics tends to fade and wear out easily, with poor durability. This processing service is commonly used in fields such as preventing counterfeits of new products. Company logos, brand text, warning signs, etc. can be hot stamped onto functional fabrics, enhancing brand recognition and ensuring that new products are distinguishable. In short, hot stamping on functional fabrics will quickly peel off without leaving any traces, making it an indispensable part of modern life for identifying the value of new or second-hand products.

Hot stamped on fine art paper

The processing method of transferring patterns or text onto art paper through hot stamping technology. Art paper has a smooth surface and soft texture, making it suitable for presenting various delicate designs and artworks. Hot stamping technology can create a micro-embossed effect on the paper, giving it a three-dimensional and textured feel, while also increasing the artistic value and visual appeal of the pattern. This processing service is widely used in the fields of art, gifts, cards, etc., to imprint personalized patterns and text on paper, presenting a unique style and charm, while also showcasing the designer's creativity and skills. In summary, hot stamping on art paper can bring more possibilities to various designs and artworks, allowing people to have a more beautiful and enriching visual experience.

Brand

Brand marking is a processing technique that uses high-temperature metal branding tools to imprint designs or text onto the surface of materials. This technique can be used not only on flat materials such as leather, fabric, and paper but also on hard materials such as wood and metal. The branding patterns are usually carefully designed by professional designers and then heated on the branding tool after being made into molds. The branding tool is then pressed onto the surface of the material, creating impressions of varying depth and shade. The advantages of branding technology include clear imprinting effects, high durability, and no issues with detachment, as is often seen with printing. This processing technique is widely used on handicrafts, leather goods, clothing, and other products to imprint patterns such as company logos and product labels, increasing brand recognition and product value. In summary, branding is a high-quality and visually effective processing technique that can bring more artistic value and personalized features to various products.

Dye sublimation + Embossing

Heat sublimation and embossing are two excellent processing techniques that can achieve unique printing effects. Heat sublimation can achieve a printing effect that blends with the surface of a special material, with bright colors, resistance to fading, and high durability. It is a processing technique that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical. Embossing, on the other hand, can create a raised effect for patterns or text, forming a three-dimensional feel with clear printing effects and rich colors, which can add more artistic value and personalized characteristics to the product. Complex secondary processing that combines heat sublimation and embossing requires high levels of professional skill and experience, and can only be done by professionals who have undergone in-depth study and practice. Our store can combine these two techniques to provide customers with high-quality processing services that not only meet their needs but also enhance the service value and sense of honor of dining for connoisseurs.

Our custom menus are one-of-a-kind and can be tailored to the buyer’s preferences. For room service menus, we intentionally make them thick and sturdy to prevent them from being taken away, but we can also make them small and thin based on the buyer’s needs. The materials used for the inside and outside of the menu can be mixed and matched to provide a wide range of options. We recommend using a four-hole metal clip for quick and easy replacement of the pages during events.

We support a variety of fine art papers for the inner pages.

The inner pages of this design utilize our proprietary technology, which includes cardboard pages, and is one of our recommended options. The entire series features pages that can be easily added, removed, or replaced, and we support the purchase of various types of fine art paper, waterproof paper, cardboard pages, and magazine paper for the inner pages. If you prefer not to use PVC materials, the aforementioned materials can be purchased separately for use as inner pages. However, only our shop’s products feature inner pages that are easy to flip, durable, without rebounding, and without cracking or splitting along the spine. For estimated production time and costs, please feel free to inquire.

Cardboard inner pages

This image shows a close-up comparison of the 1mm thick side-sealed edge of a cardboard inner page. The area circled in red is where the inner page is easily touched, so it has been folded and sealed to prevent the pages from splitting, effectively extending the lifespan of the inner pages. Side-sealed cardboard inner pages are one of the original and recommended options for inner pages offered by our store.

General Sika paper inner page

This image shows a close-up comparison of the side edge of a commonly used 220-pound thickness cultural paper. The red circle indicates the area where the edge is most likely to be touched and also the easiest to fork. Therefore, our shop has applied a technique to round the edges slightly to reduce the frequency of forking, but it will eventually still fork.
